Inna Safonova is a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Geology and Mineralogy SB RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia. M.Sc. in geochemistry (1987) from the Novosibirsk State University (Honors) and in management (2004) from the Russian Business Academy (Honors), Ph.D. in tectonics, geodynamics, petrology and volcanology (2005) from the Institute of Geology SB RAS. Associate Editor of Gondwana Research and Geoscience Frontiers journals. Secretary of the International Association for Gondwana Research. Brain Pool Program Researcher in the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources funded by Korea Foundation for Science and Technology (KOFST; 2010-2012) and Invited Research Fellow in the Earth and Life Science Institute of the Tokyo Institute of Technology funded by the Japan Society for Promotion of Science (JSPS; 2014-2015). Scientific Associate at the Centre for Russian and Central EurAsian Mineral Studies (CERCAMS), Natural History Museum, London. Her areas of interest are in the Central Asia Orogenic belt and its actualistic examples of the western Pacific with focuses on intra-oceanic arcs and accretionary complexes and their hosted units of oceanic plate stratigraphy (OPS), both sedimentary and volcanic (OIB, MORB). The research fields include igneous geochemistry and petrology; tectonic and magmatic processes of continental growth; magmatism and stratigraphy of paleo-oceans; timing, extent and sources of plume magmatism. Published over 50 SCI research papers. Leader and participant of many national (Russia) and international research projects and agreements (Belgium, China, Germany, Japan, Korea, France, UK, USA). Proposer and Leader of IGCP#592 Project “Continental construction in Central Asia” sponsored by UNESCO-IUGS (2012-2015).
